Experience the best private dining in Amsterdam at these 8 restaurants
There are perks to being part of a high-performing team with a generous boss. One is that we eat out almost regularly, often in fancy restaurants or private dining experiences.
Our favourite is private dining because it’s an exclusive and intimate way to feast on great food. And because these dine-outs are so frequent, I can confidently say I’ve gotten to know Amsterdam’s best private dining spots.
Trust me, these venues have the city’s best food. They also have a great ambience and the most accommodating staff.

True blue Amsterdammers have surely heard of Private Dining Amsterdam because the well-known Chef Adrienne Eisma runs it.
She mainly serves modern French-Italian cuisine with a sprinkling of international inspiration. The food offerings are balanced, light on the gut, and inventive. Plus, they are made fresh every time, using locally sourced ingredients.
Meanwhile, Private Dining Amsterdam is Chef Adrienne’s gorgeous home. The house combines rustic and modern elements, making it feel extra cosy with its minimalist furniture and homely interior.
Here, Chef Adrienne will serve you a three-course meal that she pairs with matching wines, coffee, and tea. These fine wines are sourced directly from France via local importer De Vier Heemskinderen.
Pro Tip:
When booking, ask Chef Adrienne for a behind-the-scenes peek at how she prepares the meals. She doesn’t always say yes to such requests, but she’ll accommodate a few every now and then.

Colette Private Dining mixes French primary cuisine with international flavours. The food here considers the dietary needs of everyone present. These are then paired with fine wines curated from Chabrol Wines Amsterdam.
The exclusive private dining at Colette’s takes place at a window-view private corner that can be sealed off with beautiful translucent curtains. It’s nice that the minimalist furniture and elegant decoration adorn this exclusive location, with candlelights providing a warm, cosy glow.
I love how this spot keeps things intimate—private dining here is strictly for groups of 6 to 31. The small number of guests is intentional, as Colette prides itself on making everyone feel like a VIP while enjoying great food.
Pro Tip:
Booking a private dining experience at Colette’s can be difficult because of its exclusivity. So, I suggest you book well in advance to get a schedule.

Secret Garden is a hidden gem among the city’s food enthusiasts.
This fine dining restaurant is unique because its focus isn’t on European cuisine. Instead, it takes inspiration from Japan and Peru for an eclectic mix called “Nikkei Cuisine.” Its wine and cocktails are also Nikkei-inspired.
I really like that the private dining experience here happens in the Garden Room. It’s a dining area with hanging greens, suede chairs, and a panelled glass ceiling. It also has a bar, lounge, and DJ to liven things up or set a homely mood.
The best part? The Garden Room can accommodate up to 40 people. This means larger groups can experience its unique culinary blends and distinct atmosphere in one exclusive setting.
Pro Tip:
Include the shared dining option in your private dining package. It’s a great way to familiarise yourself with Nikkei Cuisine as you’re served a tasting platter of Japanese-Peruvian dishes.
4. Bussia

Bussia offers a modern Italian menu that I’d rate a solid 9 out of 10. Complementing this menu is an all-Italian wine collection sourced from the finest winemaking regions in Italy, like Piedmont. My friends say Bussia’s wine is a 10 out of 10!
The private dining rooms—one for 24 people and another for just 10—mirror the restaurant’s elegant look and luxurious vibe. I like the thoughtfully designed interior marked by cream-white walls, wooden accents, and minimalist decors.
My colleagues and I found the four-course menu satisfying. I can only imagine how delightful the six- and eight-course menu would be. What’s great is that you enjoy your exclusive experience with no worries because the staff covers all your needs.
Pro Tip:
Italy is known for the world’s finest wine, and you can learn about this Italian tradition by talking to Bussia’s staff. Aside from learning a thing or two about Italy’s winemaking heritage, you’ll also get wines that match well with your menu’s food.
5. Jaap’s Private Dining

Private dining at Jaap’s takes place at the prestigious Gouden Bocht on the Kerengracht Canal, which is known for its grand canal houses. The venue was once a grandiose ballroom that dates back to the Dutch Golden Age and is one of the most luxurious dining areas I’ve been to.
This luxurious ambience works well with Jaap’s meticulously prepared five-course dinners. The menus are influenced by classic and modern European cuisine but with touches of international flavours. For me, this culinary combination is among the best in Amsterdam.
Here, the private dining menu is set for the most part, but you can also get add-ons for a small fee. These additional services elevate the dining experience, whether through music or other “attractions” (like cocktails for all, for instance).
My boss once hired a world-class pianist for €150/hour. Next time out, I’d request extra flower arrangements for just €75.
Pro Tip:
Jaap’s private dining menu is not necessarily fixed at five courses. You can add a sixth, seventh or eighth course for €25/person if you wish.

Spectrum is a two-Michelin-starred restaurant, and I told myself I had to try it. This fine-dining restaurant combines international flavours with the best local ingredients and is steered by the culinary brilliance of renowned Executive Chef Sidney Schutte.
The place’s luxurious ambience perfectly complements its acclaimed dishes, and I can’t say I’m surprised. After all, it’s located at the Waldorf Astoria, so its interior is typical of five-star hotels. In fact, I’d dare say it’s an ideal venue for diners searching for a sophisticated dining experience.
The private dining experience is particularly extravagant—a 10-course meal to surprise and delight guests with every bite. But if you’re not feeling a set menu, you can ask Chef Schutte to personalise one according to your preferences and tastes.
Pro Tip:
For a genuinely Dutch dining experience, ask for rare, locally sourced Dutch ingredients not usually found in Spectrum’s standard menus.
7. Restaurant 21

Restaurant 21 is the “youngest” on this list, established only in 2023. But it has since gained a loyal following and a superb reputation for great food and good wine.
Chilean-Colombian Chef Orlando David runs this restaurant. He infuses Chilean and Colombian culinary traditions with a touch of international flavours. I think it’s a great blend of bold, hearty flavours with some sweet and savoury undertones.
I initially thought Restaurant 21 didn’t have private dining, so I was pleasantly surprised that it does. With its spacious layout, exclusive spaces could be arranged upon request. All you have to do is contact the restaurant beforehand to discuss tailored arrangements for your group.
The place also has an inviting ambience thanks to its rustic interior. It blends brick and marbled walls, large windows, and wooden accents that make for a casual atmosphere. Yet, it looks and feels elegant enough to be perfect for fine dining.
Pro Tip:
Chef David is very accommodating. Just ask the staff to have Chef David personalise a menu to your liking. You may even request a behind-the-scenes look at how he runs his kitchen.
8. Restaurant Mont Blanc

Restaurant Mont Blanc offers a fine dining experience that will transport you to the French Alps.
It was established in 2010, but my workmates and I checked it out only recently because we got curious about Chef Thibault Casasole’s Savoyard cuisine. It’s the culinary tradition in the French Alps, and the food options are hearty and perfect for cold weather.
Aside from the food, Mont Blanc’s intimate and welcoming vibe also stood out. It might be due to the chalet-inspired interior characterised by rustic decor and alpine-inspired ornaments. The private dining area, located deep in the restaurant’s wine cellar, is even better.
Dining in a wine cellar was a new and intimate experience for us. The room’s seclusion and intimacy are perfect for special occasions, business meetings, and small group gatherings.
Between the French Alps-inspired menu and the wine cellar location, I’d say Mont Blanc’s private dining has got to be among the best overall.
Pro Tip:
Complete the ultimate French Alps gustatory experience by ordering Mont Blanc’s snow-inspired dessert platter. This special includes white chocolate, coconut shavings, and more.
