The 5 best boarding kennels in Amsterdam that keep your pet safe and sound
Planning a trip is always exciting, until we hit that tough moment of leaving our pets behind.
We’ve all been there, pacing around with our bags ready to go, but feeling that weight in our hearts because we just can’t bear the thought of leaving our pet in a place that feels cold or strange.
So, like any concerned pet parent, we asked fellow pawrents, and even checked out a few places ourselves. After all the effort, we discovered some fantastic boarding kennels in Amsterdam that really go above and beyond.
Here’s our roundup of the best boarding kennels that will put both you and your pets at ease.
How much do boarding kennel services cost in Amsterdam? Boarding kennel services in Amsterdam cost around €15 to €50 per night. The final price may vary based on factors such as the sitter’s experience, location, and included services. These include walks, playtime, or administering medication. |
1. The Paw House Amsterdam

Address: Westerpark 1051
Contact Details: +31 6 85494327
Operating Hours:
- Monday to Sunday: Open 24 hours
The Paw House Amsterdam has quickly become our favourite because it feels less like a typical boarding facility and more like a retreat, since pets can freely roam.
We absolutely adore how the space is designed to resemble a cosy living room. It’s complete with comfy sofas, soothing music, and plenty of natural light.
Apart from that, pets are grouped by size and temperament, with a strong focus on supervised play, enrichment, and relaxation.
They even provide spa services, such as grooming and pawdicures. And their cute Instagram updates showcasing each pet’s daily adventures help pet parents stay connected.
Every pet gets their own bed and personalised attention too, and they’re taken for walks several times a day in the quieter parts of the city.
Beyond that, they throw seasonal dog parties complete with photo booths and tasty treats.
The only downside is that they tend to book up months in advance, so if you’re hoping for a last-minute trip, you might be out of luck.
Peace of mind through trustworthy care
“Yvonne is the most fantastic dog sitter. She is reliable, friendly, flexible, trustworthy and has gone above and beyond to care for our dog Rosie when we are away. Rosie gets super excited when we drop her off. It is so wonderful to go on holiday and have such peace of mind knowing she is so well looked after and has lots of fun on her walks. I highly recommend Yvonne if you’re looking for someone to look after your furry friend!”

Flexible last-minute dog care hero
“Yvonne is always super flexible and has the best service, even at the last minute when I need help! One time I got stuck abroad and needed help with a boarding service last minute.. Yvonne without any hesitation picked up my doggo and took amazing care of him for 5 days. My pup adores Yvonne and always loves the fellow furry friends who he gets to go on walks with. Recommend 200%!”

2. Delusional Dogs

Address: Huntum 23A, 1102 JB
Contact Details: +77124499
Operating Hours:
- Monday to Sunday: AM to PM
Delusional Dogs (DelDogs) is the perfect place where training, boarding, and fun come together in a well-organised environment.
We really love how the team focuses on dog psychology. As a matter of fact, it’s not just a place to drop off your furry friend, it’s a hub for behavioural development. A previous client even shared that his dog came home better behaved than when they left.
What’s more, their boarding service features structured pack walks, rest times, and off-leash play in a spacious indoor area.
Dogs aren’t crated here. Yes, we like that they get to roam, play, and nap together in a social setting that resembles a pack.
However, it might not be the best fit for dogs that aren’t used to social settings or have difficulty with off-leash group interactions.
Even so, it’s really nice that they provide obedience classes, private behavioural consultations, and puppy training courses. Plus, these are all conducted by certified trainers.
The prices are also reasonable (starting at €35 per day), especially given the level of care and training your dog receives.
Daily updates and happy adventures
“We are delighted to have found Delusional Dogs! Our rather anxious rescue absolutely loved staying with Chris for 3 weeks while we were away on holiday. We received great video updates daily showing her having an absolute blast on her daily adventures to the lake and playing with all the other dogs in the house. It’s the first time we’ve been confident that our dog was happy while being looked after by a pet sitter. 10/10 would recommend.”

Training and care rolled into one
“We have been using Chris’s services for about a year. He is great with dogs and our dog (Cody) loves going to stay with Chris. Chris is an excellent trainer as well. Every time Cody comes back from staying with Chris, he’s learned some new trick or positive behavior.”

3. Tails of the City

Address: Overtoom 53 – 1, 1054 HB
Contact Details: +31 6 11199608
Operating Hours:
- Monday to Sunday: 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM
Tails of the City feels like a cosy boutique hotel for dogs. Just imagine a place where your furry friends can enjoy a peaceful, homey atmosphere, lounging on sofas instead of being stuck in cages.
We decided to check it out after hearing from a friend who shared how her rescue dog lights up with excitement every time they arrive.
What really sets this place apart is its small-group approach. They only care for a few dogs at a time, ensuring that each pup receives the attention it deserves. Just note that their availability tends to fill up quickly due to the limited boarding slots.
Every stay also includes daily walks in the lovely Amsterdam parks, as well as fun enrichment activities such as puzzle games, cuddle time, and healthy treats.
They even offer customised services tailored to your dog’s specific needs, whether it’s managing anxiety or helping with socialisation.
We also love their intake process. It’s an introductory meet-and-greet that ensures your dog is a good match for their environment.
Most trusted and loving dog care team
“We absolutely love everything about Team Tails! Ken and Gary have been looking after our older dog Ginger for 2.5 years now, and their newer team member Megan has recently dog-sat twice as well. All three of them are fantastic people that we (humans) totally trust while we’re away, and our dog thinks they’re the greatest, too. I don’t think you’ll find a more professional, communicative, and loving team in Amsterdam to take care of your animals. Just make sure to book them in advance because they’re quite popular. Thanks for everything, Ken, Gary, and Megan!”

Loyal and life-saving support for rescue pets
“Initially, Ken & Gary helped me with my 2 kitties when I was traveling. I have had friends stay with my cats and the kitties seemed more demanding and needy than after a week with Team Tails. I knew my cats were well cared for, played with and loved from how they responded when I returned. Since I adopted my rescue pup from Serbia, Team Tails has been my saving grace! From urgently taking care of my boy for two weeks when I had a family emergency to helping him grow into a confident, playful, dog-friendly pup at doggy daycare, Team Tails has been loyal, attentive, dependable, kind and generous.”

4. Mama’s Pet Club

Address: Boris Pasternakstraat 581, 1102 TG
Contact Details: +31 6 41917544
Operating Hours:
- Monday to Friday: 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM
Mama’s Pet Club offers a whole experience that feels like it was made with both pets and their owners in mind. We absolutely love how the space is thoughtfully divided into different zones—play, rest, grooming, and enrichment.
Here, dogs aren’t just being watched, they’re actively engaged and having a blast all day long.
Every guest receives a personalised schedule that combines social play with downtime, tailored to their temperament and energy levels.
They also prioritise transparency, which we really appreciate. Regular video and photo updates throughout the day are a fantastic touch for anxious pet parents like us.
Plus, they offer add-on services like grooming, training refreshers, and even massage therapy for senior dogs. And let’s not forget, the facility is climate-controlled and very clean.
Booking is easy through their website, and the pricing feels fair. Overnight stays start at €50, depending on your dog’s size and specific needs.
The only catch is that the place is run by two individuals, so if multiple pets are present, personal attention may be limited.
Personalised updates for worry-free travel
“I went on a trip from Miami to Amsterdam with my dog Rocky. While staying in Amsterdam Maria took care of my dog whenever I needed some help, she always kept me informed about him with pictures and messages, that allowed me to get to know and enjoy the city. Rocky and I love Maria and would use her services again! Highly recommended!”

Caring hands and constant communication
“Had a great experience with Mama’s Pet Club! It was so reassuring to know my dog was in such caring hands while I was away. Maria was incredibly attentive, providing detailed updates and photos throughout my dog’s stay, which made me feel at ease. It’s clear they truly care about the pets they look after, and I felt completely comfortable leaving my dog there while I traveled. Highly recommend it!”

Dierenhotel Pocahondas is a beloved pet boarding service, and it really feels like a countryside getaway for your furry friends.
We appreciate how each pet gets their own indoor and outdoor space. Dogs can enjoy spacious kennels with heated floors and their own private runs, while cats have cosy, sun-drenched nooks complete with scratching posts and lovely views of the garden.
What makes this place stand out is the daily routine, where dogs are taken for walks twice a day, and those that get along well can join in supervised group play in the expansive, grassy fields.

Professional care for even the toughest pups
“I had to leave the country unexpectedly and was really nervous about leaving my dog behind, but this team made the entire experience so much easier. My dog is large and can be intimidating to some, but they handled her with confidence and care. The regular updates, including photos and videos, reassured me that she was happy, comfortable, and well taken care of. I truly appreciate their professionalism and compassion. I couldn’t have asked for a better place to leave my pup.”

Top-notch care for unique pets like tortoises
“Great place for pets while you are on holiday. I left my pet tortoises there for quite a long time and they came back in great shape, I think the ladies there took great care of them. I constantly got pics and updates while I was on holiday. I had a tour of the place beforehand and it looks great, clean, professional, all animals well cared for. The cat area is pretty spectacular. So definitely 100% recommend.”
